If you’ve searched for acupuncture in Narangba, chances are you’re looking for more than just a treatment — you’re looking for someone who genuinely understands the body, the mind, and how they’re connected. That’s exactly what led me here, to opening Finer Point Acupuncture right in the heart of Narangba, the place I call home.
But before I was treating patients, I was the one who needed healing.
Where It All Began: 2009
Back in 2009, I was going through one of the hardest periods of my life. A relationship had fallen apart, and with it, a lot of who I thought I was. I remember feeling confused, emotionally drained, and honestly not liking the person I’d become. I made the decision to move out and stay with my aunty, Marie Chin, for a few months while I tried to find my footing again.
It was during that time that my aunty introduced me to Reiki. I hadn’t had any real exposure to natural healing before that point, but something about it clicked. She taught me the practice, and looking back, that was the real turning point in my life. I didn’t know exactly what path I was going to take, but I knew — for the first time in a long time — that I wanted to help people heal. I just didn’t know how yet. Over the years since, I’ve gone on to complete all seven levels of Aslor Reiki, finishing the final three in 2023 alongside my acupuncture studies.
Not long after, I left Adelaide, where I’d spent about ten months, and moved to Brisbane, where my parents lived, to get back on my feet and figure out my next step.
Finding Shiatsu and the Foundations of Chinese Medicine: 2014
Fast forward to 2014, and I began studying a Diploma in Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies, which introduced me properly to Chinese Medicine and its underlying theories. This is where I first learned cupping, Gua Sha, tuina, and the meridian system that Chinese Medicine is built on. I was fascinated by how these techniques worked together to address pain and different health conditions — not just treating symptoms, but looking at the whole picture. I completed the diploma at the end of 2015.
This was the beginning of understanding Chinese Medicine isn’t just a technique; it’s a completely different lens for looking at health.
In 2016, I put that training into practice, opening “Balancing Life’s Pains Shiatsu & Oriental Therapies” in the Browns Plains area — my first step into running my own natural therapies business.
Committing to Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine: 2016–2023
By late 2016, I’d found the courage to go all in. I enrolled to study Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and the deeper theory behind it all — first full-time, then part-time once COVID hit, because like everyone else, I had no idea what was happening in the world or when things would feel normal again.
I trained at Endeavour College of Natural Health in Brisbane, completing a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture). All up, it took seven years to finish. There were long nights, stressful days, and moments where I questioned whether I could keep going. But in 2023, I finally graduated — and I was honoured to have my parents and my wife there to celebrate the end of that journey with me. I owe a huge thank you to my wife, Ashley, for standing by me through those years and putting up with a very grumpy, sleep-deprived version of me. That same year, my business became what it is today: Finer Point Acupuncture.
Why Narangba
Throughout my training and clinical practice — both treating patients in college clinics and experiencing the effects of these techniques on myself — I felt firsthand just how powerful this medicine can be. Chinese Medicine and acupuncture aren’t just theories to me; they’re something I’ve lived, studied deeply, and seen work.
Once I finished, I knew exactly what I wanted to do: bring this to my own community. Narangba is where I live, where I’ve put down roots, and I wanted the people here to have access to this kind of care without having to travel into the city for it.
That’s why Finer Point Acupuncture exists — a local, dedicated space where Narangba locals can experience acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and hopefully find their own turning point the way I found mine.
