About Me & How I Treat
My passion has always been to help people and I have learnt many different skills and combined them together as a complete health system to help my patients achieve their health goals. I will usually use Reiki & Shiatsu methods along with Chinese Medicine in my patients treatments so you get the best possible outcomes. Each treatment is tailored to your specific needs and treatment outcomes to a treatment plan.
Acupuncture works with a series of treatments to get the best results just like when you take medication you it works accumulatively. You should not have acupuncture too close together but you can have acupuncture too far apart. You will need treatments twice a week for one to two weeks at the beginning of your treatment plan. As your condition gets better we will extend your treatment into every other week and eventually to a monthly to six weekly for a follow-up maintenance.
How many appointments do you need?
- For Acute Conditions: Takes around 2- 8 treatments (Around 3-4 treatments you should notice a permanent shift in your condition)
- For Chronic Conditions: More complex conditions take around 12-16 or more treatments (Around 6 treatments you should notice a more permanent shift in your condition)
Aftercare
I believe it’s important to help my patients make lasting improvements to their health, which often means taking action outside the treatment room. Chinese medicine offers a comprehensive approach to health and well-being, including an array of self-care practices, and I can help you utilise these. There is no extra cost to you—this is a free added benefit for my patients.
I use the Jing app in my practice as a convenient way to prescribe self-care programmes in the form of videos, audio recordings, articles and recipe cards. I can put together a plan for you based on my diagnosis and understanding of your condition, which might include acupressure points, self-massage routines, qigong exercises, guided meditations, dietary advice and recipes. For patients who are open to integrating these simple techniques and principles into their lives, results can be faster and longer-lasting.
Physitrack is another tool I use for aiding in rehabilitation. I prescribe to you effective stretching videos that show the correct technique to help speed up your recovery and stop you from injuring yourself further from not doing the stretching correctly.
F.A.Q
Is Acupuncture Safe?
Yes Acupuncture is safe, when performed by a registered & licensed Chinese Medicine practitioner. However, the insertion of sterile acupuncture needles can and may bruise and cause minor bleeding with puncturing of the skin on the body human body which is not uncommon. Finer Point Acupuncture Clinic operates under AHPRA Infection prevention and control guidelines for acupuncture practice and with single-use needles only.
Does the needles hurt?
Generally not at all. Most people find acupuncture treatments relaxing and many patients fall asleep during the treatment. I have a lot of needle phobic patients and even they are surprised that most times they don’t feel the needles at all. There is at times a gentle sensations during the treatment like a tingling, numbness, warmth, coolness, dull ache and heaviness which is not uncommon and completely normal. I will try my best to make your experience 100% comfortable & supportive throughout your entire course of your treatment.
What should I wear? & what should I bring for my treatment?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothes to your appointment. Bring any reports from imaging, blood tests related to the condition you’re coming in for.
What if I don't like needles?
Acupuncture needles are not like those that you get from blood test or having your flu shot! At Finer Point Acupuncture I utilise a wide variety of Chinese Medicine techniques these include cupping, moxibustion, tuina (massage), Chinese herbal medicine, Shiatsu and Reiki.
If the thought of using needles scares you or makes you anxious about having a treatment, just make sure to let me know before I you consultation begins so I can tailor your treatment plan that is suitable and effective for you.
Is there anything I should do before or after the treatment?
Allow plenty of time before & after your appointment to prevent stress/anxiety of being late, or being late to you next event or meeting when your appointment is finished.
